International Law Commission (ILC) - The ILC was assembled under the General Assembly and works to develop and define international law. Specifically, the ILC was created to undertake article 13(1)a of the Charter of the UN, to “"initiate studies and make recommendations for the purpose of encouraging the progressive development of international law and its codification”.   Hello everyone! My name is Michelle Mar and I’ll be one of your vice chairs for BMUN Committee LEGAL. I was a policy debater in high school, but I did not do MUN in high school. I am a second year at UC Berkeley and a political science major with a concentration in international relations. Other than BMUN, I also am involved in a pre-law fraternity, Sigma Alpha Nu, as co-rush chair. In addition, I am also working as an undergraduate research apprentice for a political science research project on the rise of the Right and political developments in India. I like to play video games like Animal Crossing and watch cooking videos in my spare time.  I’m looking forward to meeting everyone :)  - Michelle Mar

Position Papers and Office Hours

 Delegates,  As many of you are aware, tonight is the deadline for Position Papers. Without one submitted through Huxley, you and your partner will not be qualified to receive awards in committee. For those of you who have reached out for extensions, please direct emails to research@bmun.org.  Here is some exciting news! The LEGAL dais will be holding Office Hours this Friday (2/19), from 10 AM until 1 PM. Come through to ask us any questions about MUN or our topics!  Hi everyone!  My name is Nishitha, and I’ll be your Head Chair for LEGAL BMUN 69! I am currently a second year at Cal, majoring in History. I’ve been doing Model UN for about seven years now, and have chaired a few other Bay Area conferences. I also did debate in high school (repping public forum woohoo)! At Berkeley, I am involved on campus with my pre-law fraternity (Sigma Alpha Nu), as well as in research in the English department. In my free time I like to thrift, walk my dog, and roller skate. Feel free to comment any hobbies/cool talents you have!! I absolutely loved researching these topics along with my  wonderful Vice Chairs, and hope you guys will also love learning a little more about International relations during this conference!  Hi Everyone! My name is Isha Shah and I am so excited to serve as one of your vice-chairs for the LEGAL Committee at BMUN LXIX! I am originally from Toronto, Canada, and am currently a junior at UC Berkeley studying Bioengineering with minors in Public Policy and Design Innovation. Me at our last in-person Delegate Workshop! Outside of BMUN, I am an undergraduate researcher at the UCSF School of Medicine, work as a Campus Ambassador and serve as a Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Prevention Director in our Student Government (ASUC). In my free time, I enjoy listening to Rap and R&B Music, staying active and volunteering. I look forward to meeting you all virtually, and having an engaging, productive and fun conference!

 Hello, I'm Vikas, a senior studying computer science and economics, originally from Michigan. I've been in BMUN for  4 years and previously served as the head chair for UNIDO and FSB. Outside of BMUN i've been apart of a bollywood dance team, taught computer science, and participate in IM sports. In my free time(however much we get) I like to play basketball, listen to music(I'm a huge A$AP rocky fan) and watch football. I'm looking forward to meeting you all during virtual conference!

Hello! My name is Yuriko Akeyama, one of your LEGAL committee vice-chairs this year. I am currently in my second year at UC Berkeley, studying Political Science and Economics. In my free time, I enjoy going on walks, dancing, and (virtually) playing games with my friends.
